Junior football team players sporting their new McQueens Dairies sponsored strip for the first time beat their opponents 23-2.
Dean Thistle FC in Kilmarnock achieved the impressive score against Shortlees Boys Club after manager William McNaughton revealed the new kits to his young players.
“The boys who are just aged seven and eight, were absolutely over the moon,” said William. “Their parents who came along to watch the game were also really impressed and the boys did us proud with such a fantastic score.”
The club has previously organised a series of fund-raising events to pay for new kits including a sponsored mile and a half mud run, in which 23 children took part.
“We managed to get some funds together but not enough to pay for a new kit,” continued William. “Then, as a customer of McQueens Dairies I had the idea to approach them and they agreed. We are all thrilled and it has given the club a great boost.
“The boys are now looking forward to competing in several forthcoming tournaments including the Carbrain Boys Club annual football festival before the new season gets underway.”
Calum McQueen, director of McQueens Dairies, who oversees the company’s Glasgow headquarters, said: “We are really pleased to be able to support this young football club and to hear the 23-2 score the first time they wore the kits is just fantastic.
“We are always keen to assist organisations like Dean Thistle that do a great job to help young people in the areas in which we work. We now look forward to following Dean Thistle’s progress when the new season starts.”Back >
