How it all began
We believed that the production of milk had improved, offering a product with a longer shelf life. Taking advantage of this we offered 2lt jugs delivered to the door on a two day a week basis, the first dairy in the UK to do so. The concept took off and our customers enjoyed the new approach to milk deliveries.
Our next step was to stop the weekly cash collections as they meant customers had to stay in and wait to pay their milk as well as making sure they had enough change (including a tip for the milk boy)! We introduced the more convenient method of paying by direct debit and online payments.
Our customer base grew and we moved further afield in Scotland to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Renfrewshire and Ayrshire. More depots were opened in Glasgow, Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh and four years ago we ventured south into England, first opening a depot in Warrington. The response was just as good down south as had been in Scotland and so Huddersfield and Mansfield depots soon followed. Our employees are all local people but each depot is overseen by at least one family member insuring that we never lose the personal rapport that we have always enjoyed with our customers.
Last year we took the big step of investing in our own production and bottling plant believing we could then ensure that our product would always be as fresh and nutritious as possible. We support British farmer’s as all the milk we sell comes from the UK.
Not a drop of milk that we sell will not be British. In September 2016 we introduced fresh orange juice in returnable glass bottles to our range and we now offer delicious free range eggs too.
Our family are fully committed to updating the doorstep delivery and as company we want to sell the highest quality McQueens milk direct to the consumer. We want to make sure milkmen don’t become a thing of the past and we believe that with the right product and delivery service there is still room in the future for the milkman.
